What’s the difference between strip lashes, cluster lashes, and lash extensions?
Strip lashes are intended for personal application, and should only be worn for one night. Cluster lashes can last three to seven days and can be applied personally or by a professional. They are simply a collection of a few lashes in a “V” shape. Lash extensions are semi-permanent and applied by a professional who uses an isolation technique to attach one extension to each lash individually. Lash extensions can last for weeks, and you never have to worry about them coming loose at an inopportune moment.
Can everyone get lash extensions?
You may want J. Lo’s lashes, but if you have short, thin ones, it may be impossible for your natural lashes to support extensions like hers. If your natural lashes can’t hold the extensions you long for, it may help to take natural supplements or to use a growth serum. Another way to boost the health of your natural lashes is to clean them every day. By ensuring that the base of your lashes is free of makeup residue and oils, you will be giving the hair follicles the room they need to grow.
What impacts lash growth?
Eyelashes are made of keratin, which is a protein that is affected by diet, unhealthy habits, hormone levels, and stress. The best way to help your lashes grow is to eat a balanced diet and live a healthy lifestyle.
Will the extensions damage my natural lashes?
No. The extensions are individually glued to your lashes and are designed to shed with your natural lashes – which is a good thing. We only use extensions that match your natural lashes. For example, if you have fine lashes, we will use lighter extensions. They will look the same, but they won’t put a strain on your natural lashes.
As your lashes begin to shed, you may feel like you are losing your lashes – but this is not the case. Your lashes have and will always shed; you probably just never paid attention to it before. With extensions, however, you may be more aware of the shedding because they will be easier to spot. Also, you may notice gaps because you will get used to seeing yourself with full, long lashes. It’s like seeing yourself without mascara. When you see gaps, it means that it is time for a fill.
How long do the extensions last?
They are designed to last as long the life of your natural lash, which is usually between three to four weeks.
How do I keep them looking full?
If you want to maintain your extensions and always have that “full set” look, it’s a lot like getting your nails filled. A touch-up is usually performed two to three weeks after the initial application, and then every two to four weeks after that – depending on your lash lifecycle.
Do I have to have a fill? Can I get them done just once?
If you choose to have them done just once, it’s not a problem. They will simply shed, and you will be back to your natural lashes. There may be a time when they look a little odd – with just one or two extensions left – but if this happens, we can easily remove them for you. Do not pull them out! Just call us.
Will they look fake?
No – but we can give you whatever look you want. Some people like a more natural look, while others prefer something a little more dramatic. It is completely up to you. We do encourage clients, though, to go with what will best work with their natural lashes.
Why does the process take so long?
We attach one extension to each lash. To ensure that we don’t glue two lashes together (which is very uncomfortable), it takes time.
Can the extensions be removed?
Yes. We can remove them for you, but don’t be tempted to remove them yourself because you will prematurely pluck your eyelash.
Can I swim with lash extensions?
Yes! Enjoy resembling a fox and not a raccoon.
What is the extension adhesive?
We use a very high quality, medical-grade adhesive. It has very little fumes, if any, and we use as little as possible. We maintain the highest hygiene standards, and we will work with you to ensure that you are comfortable and your eyelashes stay healthy.
Could I have a reaction to lash extensions?
Reactions do happen occasionally. If you have one, we will immediately remove the extensions, relieving any symptoms. Keep in mind, though, that reactions are extremely rare due to the high quality of our products. If you have any questions or concerns, just let us know.
